Barjine lies in Iqlim el-Kharroub (Chouf District), about 42 km from Beirut via Saadiyat–Debbiyeh. Its land — together with Marayjat — covers about 4 km², planted mainly with olives, grapevines, and carob. Roughly 1,000 residents are registered, of whom about 500 are voters. The town is locally known for its carob molasses (دبس الخروب).
Named after two ancient towers (al-burjayn). Their remains are still visible: one in the Qarhaniyeh quarter, where a mosque stands on the ruins of an old building with traces of mosaic and massive stones, and the other in the Church quarter. Experts date the towers to the Byzantine era, after which Crusaders, Mamluks and others held them.
