Zaarouriyeh is a Chouf-area settlement in Mount Lebanon.
Zaarouriyeh took its name from the hawthorn tree (zaarour), a recent naming given when the village was settled during the later historical centuries. The hawthorn is a well-known wild shrub with a small round red fruit containing a hard pit.
Though its name is recent, the area has notable archaeological remains, including rock-cut sarcophagi and the ruins of an old walled town the locals call 'Daiaa al-Tahta', dated by researchers to the Roman period. The town saw the displacement of its Christian inhabitants during the events of the last two decades of the twentieth century.
