Jmayliyeh is a town in the Chouf District of Mount Lebanon at about 300 m above sea level roughly 42 km from Beirut. Its land covers about 1.3 km², local agriculture includes grapevines and grains.
The name El Jmeiliyeh is attributed to the Gemayel (al-Jmayyel) family who, according to tradition, founded it; its fief was later bought by a man of Italian origin named Louis Catafago before the ancestors of the present community purchased it from him at the start of the twentieth century.
